Objetivo
The City Hall of Funchal developed an activity of observation and awareness of the preservation of bats in the Funchal Ecological Park.
The initiative, part of the Eco-Schools programme, involved students from class 8º10 of Horácio Bento de Gouveia school, and gave them the opportunity to see the works of conservation made by the City Hall of Funchal, regarding the safety of biodiversity.
This initiative has three points:
– Approach the Ecological Park to the school community.
– Take part in the Eco-Schools’ national contest ‘Biodiversity: Preserve and regenerate.

– Participate in the Polar Star project, based on STEAM Education which is an approach to learning that combines Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics as access points for innovative approaches in contemporary learning and science.

Avaliação/impacto
This project centres on the development of students’ main skills as well as on the deepening of their knowledge on the main principles of science, increasing their appreciation of science and technology and, also, their part in society.
