Objetivo
O principal objetivo da campanha “Beatas não chão… NÃO!” foi sensibilizar a população, em geral, e a comunidade académica da Escola de Tecnologia de Saúde de Lisboa (ESTeSL), em particular, para o problema dos resíduos de cigarros nas praias.
The main objective of the campaign “Cigarette butts on the floor… NO!” was to sensitize the entire population in general and the academic community of the Lisbon School of Health Technology (ESTeSL) in particular to the problem of cigarette waste in beachs.

Com o objetivo de sensibilizar a população em geral e a comunidade académica do ESTeSL para o problema das pontas de cigarro, realizou-se uma campanha de recolha de beatas de cigarros na escola e numa praia. Além disso, estabeleceram-se contactos com a empresa “Portugal Sem Beatas”, que participou na realização de uma vídeo reportagem que ajudou a difundir a mensagem.
In order to raise the awareness of the general population and the academic community of ESTeSL for the problem of cigarette butts, a campaign was carried out to collect cigarette butts at the school and at a nearby beach. In addition, the company “Portugal Sem Beatas” was contacted, which participated in the realization of a video report that helped spread the message.
Avaliação/impacto
Para além de se ter garantido um impacto sobre os alunos diretamente envolvidos na atividade, a participação de outros agentes fez com que a mensagem fosse amplamente divulgada, tendo-se atingindo um número muito maior de pessoas.
A quantidade de beatas de cigarros recolhida por apenas três alunos, num tão curto espaço de tempo, foi alarmante e preocupante. Por outro lado, além de se ter identificado a causa do problema, foram apresentadas algumas soluções para a erradicação das pontas de cigarro na via pública e nas nas praias portuguesas.
A atividade está naturalmente ligada aos “Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável”, nomeadamente ao objetivo 14 (Proteger a Vida Marinha) mas aborda outros, de forma indireta, nomeadamente, e a título de exemplo, o objetivo 4 (Educação de Qualidade).
In addition to having an impact on the students directly involved, the fact that other agents were involved led to the message being disseminated and reaching a much larger number of people.
The amount of cigarette butts collected by only three students in such a short time was alarming and disturbing. On the other hand, in addition to the identified cause of the problem, some solutions were presented for the eradication of cigarette butts on public roads and on beaches.
The activity is naturally linked to the “Sustainable Development Objectives”, namely to Goal 14 (Protecting Marine Life), but indirectly addresses others, such as Objective 4 (Quality Education).
