As an Eco-School, Valongo do Vouga School celebrated Global Action Days, with various activities.
On the 20th of April, Eco-School Club members started off by taking care of the flowerbed with herbs, as they usually do on a weekly basis. Then, onto the organic vegetable garden and the hydroponic (water culture) greenhouse. Students removed dead and dried up leaves, water the plants and check for plagues or diseases.
During Geography lessons, students finished their Earth Day posters and put them on display, for the Earth Day Expo on the 22nd of April.
From the 24th until the 28th of April, the ERSUC Environment truck was parked outside our school and all preschoolers, primary schoolers, and fifth grade students visited the activities.
The goal of these activities is to empower young people to make informed decisions and apply them to real life sustainability issues, and the need to reuse and reduce urban waste, especially the recyclable waste, such as cardboard/paper, metal, plastic and glass containers.
